Companies that ignore workplace stress overload may be setting themselves up for litigation in the future. When employees feel helpless or powerless because of stress and aren't getting any relief, they may resort to extreme measures such as taking their employer to court. One of the reasons organizations fail to recognize stress overload as an issue is the believe that addressing worker stress might provide "ammunition" for employee lawsuits. Actually, it's to the contrary. It's better for an organization to show they've put programs in place for employees' stress issues instead of dismissing them.
